Seeing the Unseen

Learn how YOU can fight against the evil of human trafficking stalking our children today. Clearwater Public Library is proud to bring Global Portal 4 Freedom in to give this presentation at 7PM at the City Council Chambers tonight. A free will offering will be made to help cover the cost of this event. It is designed for children (5th grade and above), parents, grandparents and concerned citizens.

Reminder for Tonight

REMINDER TONIGHT
Immigration in Kansas Today
Since settlement in the 19th century, the story of Kansas has largely been a story of immigration. this presentation explores how immigration today compares to immigration in the 1860’s, connecting the trends in the benefits and challenges that communities face when new people move in. Looking at history, how can today’s Kansas towns and neighborhoods develop socially and ecologically resilient communities? The social processes of integrating new cultures into our increasingly shared space will be examined, as well as the impact these changing demographics have on their natural environments. Presented by Matthew Sanderson, associate professor of sociology at Kansas State University and this presentation is made possible by the Kansas Humanities Council.

People’s University

Public Libraries often serve as the “people’s university”.  In a time when education is increasingly expensive, public libraries provide information and educational opportunities free for all people, regardless of their socioeconomic status.  Take advantage of the educational events the library sponsors such as the KHC speaker coming on the 16th to discuss immigration in Kansas.  Check our calendar or contact the Library for more information.  Clearwater Public Library – Check Us Out!
