Smells

The word for loving the smell of old books is “Bibliosmia”.  Similar to carbon-dating, scientists can analyze the chemicals responsible for “old book smell” to determine the age of a book.  The process is called “material degradomics”.

Speaking of “Smells”, be sure to follow the delicious smell at the Clearwater Senior Community Center at around 1PM on April 13th where one of our teens will be doing his part for the “Cook Booking”.

Join us Friday, March 23rd at 1:00 at the Senior Community Center for Cook Booking.  We still have spots available for upcoming Friday’s if you would be interested in teaching one of your recipes!  Sign up at the Senior Center or tell Tina at the Library.

Hearts to You

Hope all have a wonderful Valentine’s Day.  I am sure that Heather Allen, winner of our Valentine’s contest will have a great one!  Enjoy the two tickets to Wichita Theater Leagues show, “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder.”

If you are curious about who does all the work at the Library I would encourage you to come to the Clearwater City Council meeting on February 13th as we “introduce” ourselves to the City Council with its new members.  Show your support for our local library.

Do you have story just waiting to be told?  The time is now! Come to the Writer’s Workshop conducted by Kansas author, Jared Vaughn at the Clearwater Public Library on February 17th at 10:30AM.  Submit your short  story to be published in an upcoming book.  Contact Tina at the Library or speak with Jared at the Workshop for the submission forms and any questions.

As Erasmus said, “Your library is your paradise.”
